And bought a new bike. It has been a long time coming, but I just had such sticker shock when I went to go look that I never thought I could bring myself to do it. Now, don't get me wrong, I bought the base model road/racing bike...nothing fancy and had to have it special ordered since I am so damn short. Story of my life. But I bought it nonetheless.
Honestly, the bike purchase came to be... thanks to good old customer loyalty. Who knew it still existed. So, it went like this....
We find the bike that finally fits me and it is, of course, a budget buster. No Good. However, when the owner (who happens to be friends and old racing partners with my next door neighbor...hee hee hee) learns that we purchased Jay's bike there last year, ski exquipment, bike racks, ski rack, and other sports paraphernalia all from their store... he gets to thinkin'. How can we get this girl on this bike? When I tell him that I am presently training for the Tri on a 13 year old mountain bike, he almost flipped.
Next thing I know there are loyalty discounts, model discounts, "pretend this is last years model" dicounts, it finally feels like spring discounts, hey your short but cute discounts....you get the picture. When all was said and done, the bike price was almost half. NICE. So I said "Sold to the lady in the long black dress." I even got a pair of bike shorts too...intersting things those bike shorts. We'll save that for another post.
